The Essential Gaelic-English Dictionary by Angus Watson
This is a reference text compiled from the view of the learner. It features a range of illustrative examples, and includes some Scots equivalents for head words, and numerous cross references to related lexical items. It aims to give samples of a wide range of registers and areas of experience. Gaelic has a variety of meanings contained in the words, this dictionary takes account of this. The book has been fully checked and read with the support of the Gaelic Books Council.
Angus Watson graduated in Gaelic from Aberdeen University and was a published writer of Gaelic short stories. He also had a PhD from St Andrews University. He passed away in May, 2017.
