This book looks at the circumstances surrounding the construction of the first lock gates and general engineering works that converted the river into an inland navigation and the changing fortunes in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Sean O' Dell has been researching and writing on the Essex and Suffolk Stour for some time. He is an experienced diver and does maintenance work on the River Stour Navigation, working with the River Stour Trust.
