
Hog to Hog, a satirical novel by Jack Smith, received the George Garrett Fiction Award in 2007 and was published in 2008 by Texas Review Press. Ploughshares, Georgia Review, American Book Review, Prairie Schooner, Mid-American Review, Pleiades, the Missouri Review, and Environment magazine have all published his reviews. He's had over a dozen essays published in Novel & Short Story Writer's Market, as well as over a dozen in The Writer magazine. Write and Revise for Publication: A 6-Month Strategy for Creating an Outstanding Novel and Other Works of Fiction, his creative writing book, was published by Writer's Digest Books in 2013.
Killing Me Softly, a nonfiction environmental book he coauthored, was published by Monthly Review Press in 2002. Smith co-edits The Green Hills Literary Lantern, an online literary magazine published by Truman State University, in addition to writing.
