Eurogames by Stewart Woods
While board games can appear almost primitive in the digital age, eurogames--also known as German-style board games--have increased in popularity in near-concurrence with the rise of video games. Eurogames have simple rules, short playing times and emphasize strategy over luck and conflict. Stewart Woods, a postdoctoral research fellow at Curtin University in Western Australia, has published a number of articles on the nature of social play. He is on the board of reviewers for Game Studies: The International Journal of Computer Game Studies and is cofounder of the West Australian Boardgaming Association.
