Evangelism for a New Age by John W Drane
This work asks why it is, in an age when spiritual values are to the fore, that the Christian Church fails to attract people who are willing to give almost any other religious experience a whirl, no matter how bizarre. This book demonstrates that in many places the Church is still clinging to an outdated world-view which neither reflects the Gospel nor responds to contemporary human values. Examining the way Jesus met people - affirming them, allowing them to be themselves and giving them the option of responding to him, this book suggests a new strategy for imaginative and effective evangelism.
Drane, John: -
John Drane is a theologian who is probably best known for his two best-selling books on the Bible, Introducing the Old Testament and Introducing the New Testament. He studied in the University of Aberdeen where he was a student of I. Howard Marshall, and he holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, where his mentor was F. F. Bruce. His doctoral research focused on Gnosticism in relation to early Christian thought and practice. This interest in esoteric spirituality later became a bridge between his study of the Bible and his concern for Christian mission, with particular reference to cultural change and the emergence of New Spirituality.
