Maryann Miller is the author of multiple award-winning books, screenplays, and stage plays. The Texas Association of Authors awarded her mystery Doubletake the best mystery of 2015, and her Seasons Mystery Series has received excellent accolades from Publisher's Weekly and Library Journal. Open Season is the first installment in a series about two female homicide detectives in Dallas. Consider a female-led version of Lethal Weapon set in Texas. Miller is the Theatre Director of the Winnsboro Center for the Arts, where she previously directed one of her own plays.
She enjoys directing, especially when it involves dealing with children, and she organizes the annual two-week Youth Drama Camp. Miller enjoys being onstage when he is not directing and has played main roles in a number of shows. The Page Edwards Short Story Prize, the New York Library Best Books for Youth Award, first place in the screenwriting competition at the Houston Writer's Conference, semi-finalist at Sundance, and semi-finalist at the Chesterfield Screenwriting Competition are among the many accolades she has garnered for her writing. She lives in the gorgeous Piney Woods of East Texas with one horse, one goat, one sheep, one dog, and four cats on Grandma's Ranch.
