Its object was to review the lessons to be learned from the fighting and also to look at every aspect of the Corps' experiences and make recommendations: organization problems, tactics in attack and defence, communications, arms and ammunition, engineer stores, clothing and equipment, transport, rations and so on.
The writer has chosen to stay anonymous because the poems reflect a universal journey. The author lays no claim to the thoughts as they are part of the collective unconsciousness that binds living things together.
