Christina Koning was born in British Borneo, and spent her early childhood in Venezuela and Jamaica. Currently she reviews fiction for The Times as well as writing travel pieces. Both her previous novels published by Penguin, A MILD SUICIDE (1992) and UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY (1998) received wide-spread critical acclaim, and in 1999 UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY won the Encore Award.
