Leslie Odom, Jr. is best known for his performance as Aaron Burr in the Broadway smash Hamilton, for which he earned the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. He won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater CD in 2015 for his work as a principal soloist on Hamilton's Original Broadway Cast Recording. In 2015, Odom, Jr was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical for his performance as Burr in a sold-out run at The Public Theater. His self-titled debut album was partially supported by a successful Kickstarter campaign that garnered $40,971 for him as a recording artist. Borderlight Entertainment, Inc. released the album in 2014.
Smash, Law & Order: SVU, Gotham, Person of Interest, Grey's Anatomy, House of Lies, Vanished, and CSI: Miami have all featured Odom, Jr. In the upcoming feature film Murder on the Orient Express, he plays a detective.
