Falconry by Emma Ford
This contains the latest techniques and developments in this age-old "country-type" sport together with photographs especially shot for the book. It aims to provide a complete guide to the art and practice of falconry. Advice is given on the general husbandry of harks, combined with information on training, techniques and equipment. There is also guidance on transportation, legislation, the making of equipment and aspects of conservation. The author founded and runs the British School of Falconry. The contents of the book also overlap into aviculture and nature.
Emma and Stephen Ford own and run the British School of falconry at the world famous Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire PH3 1EB, Scotland and also the North American Falconers School in Vermont, USA. Emma herself is highly promotable and photogenic, as well as being the top British female falconer. The Barbour clothing company have used her in advertising,- with and without falcon. She won over the sales force by presenting her book armed with a peregrine falcon and then caused a great stir at the London Book Fair by promoting the book with a hunting eagle on her arm.
