Amy Engel was born in Kansas and spent her childhood moving between countries (Iran, Taiwan) and states (Kansas, California, Missouri, and Washington, D.C.). She now lives in Kansas City, Missouri, with her husband and two children. She was a criminal defense attorney before devoting herself full-time to motherhood and writing, which isn't nearly as thrilling as it appears on TV.
