Eleven-year-old Tyler Stoudt starts sixth grade off on the wrong foot. She has Ms. Custer, the toughest teacher in school, who has announced that the schoolwork for the year will revolve around one project: a family tree. Tyler doesn't have a family tree--she has only Papa. As Papa said, her family tree was chop down and burnt up. But Tyler decides to do her best on the family tree project. Does she have grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles? Tyler wants to know, but she is afraid of what she might find out.

Sean Dixon is an actor, playwright, author, and playwright. Three of his pieces have been gathered in AWOL: Three Plays for Theatre SKAM, which has been performed in Canada, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Sean's debut novel was The Girls Who Seen Everything (in the United States, The Final Days of the Lacuna Cabal). Quill & Quire named it one of the Best Books of 2007 in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Many Revenges of Kip Flynn (Coach House, 2011) was his second novel.

He's also the author of The Feathered Cloak and The Winter Drey, two books for young readers. Tomboyfriend, a Toronto glam rock band, has him on banjo on occasion.
