Andrew Solomon is a Columbia University professor of psychology, the president of the PEN American Center, and a regular writer to The New Yorker, NPR, and The New York Times Magazine. He is the author of Far and Away: Essays from the Edge of Change: Seven Continents, Twenty-Five Years; Far from the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity, which received the National Book Critics Circle Award and went on to win thirty more national honors; and The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression, which won the 2001 National Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
