A Far off Place by Laurens Van Der Post

The story of a long, perilous journey undertaken by four survivors of a massacre: a teenage boy of European descent, a young white girl, and two Bushmen. The basis for a major film release from Walt Disney Pictures.

Laurens van der Post was born in the continent of Africa in the year 1906. He spent the majority of his adult life in Africa and England. Ten years in the army, behind enemy lines in Abyssinia, the Western Desert, and the Far East, where he was taken prisoner by the Japanese while commanding a tiny guerrilla unit, interrupted his writing and farming careers. He returned to active duty in Java after being released from prison. For his contributions to the field, he was given the CBE.
