Joy Jones has coached poetry slam teams and taught creative writing and public speaking to middle school students. The American Booksellers Association named her book Tambourine Moon a Kid's Choice of the Year in 2000, and the black caucus of the ALA named it one of the best books for children. It was also featured on Fox TV's hit show The Bernie Mac Show. She's also the author of Fearless Public Speaking, a book about public speaking. Joy is the founder of D.C. Spoken Word and the director of The Spoken Word, a performance poetry ensemble. Retro Jumpers is a double Dutch group for people of various ages. She currently resides in Washington, DC.
