Felicien Rops by Patrick Bade

Felicien Rops is a very surprising artist.

Engraver and drawer of exception, Felicien Rops captures and anticipates, with an astonishing talent, the female bodies with great modernity. Abandoning the conventional forms of the time, the artist creates a world full of humour, tenderness and, at times, insolence for the jubilation of the spectator's eye.

Patrick Bade worked at Christie's Education London as a Senior Lecturer in Art and Opera. He has given talks and written for the National Gallery of London, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal Opera House, and the Royal Academy of Arts, as well as BBC Radio 3, Radio 4, and Classic FM. He is the author of several publications on 19th and 20th century painting and music and offers cultural trips to various European locations, including Vienna.
