Fencing: Essential Skills Training by Ed Rogers
Covering foil, sabre and epee in turn, the exercises work from the basics of on guard and control of the weapon, through simple attacks, to parries, ripostes, counter-ripostes and compound attacks. The exercises can be used by two fencers of similar ability, or by coach and pupil, thereby offering a useful aid for students and coaches alike.
Ed Rogers coaches at Heriot-Watt University and Bo'ness Fencing Club, and fences as a veteran for the Scottish team, winning a gold medal in the sabre team event at the Commonwealth Veterans' Championships. He is an Associate Member of the British Academy of Fencing, active in training coaches, and is one of their coaching examiners.
