He is the author of several books on design including Ming Cho Lee: A Life in Design and The History and Theory of Environmental Scenography. He is the editor of The Routledge Companion to Scenography and was a founding co-editor of the journal Theatre and Performance Design. He has a long history with the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space and served as General Commissioner in 2007.
