The Fight for Fordhall Farm by Ben Hollins
Fordhall Farm was once a thriving organic farm run by pioneering farmer, Arthur Hollins. Threatened with pressure from local land developers, the farm began to suffer. Faced with eviction, Arthur's children, Ben and Charlotte, refused to give in without a fight and set about raising GBP800,000 to buy the farm. Undaunted by their youth, they launched a nationwide appeal and established a community-ownership scheme. Today over 8,000 people own a stake in Fordhall farm. In 'The Fight for Fordhall Farm', Ben and Charlotte tell their inspirational story of hope and survival and give an insight into the life of modern farmers.
Ben and Charlotte Hollins were born on Fordhall Farm on the outskirts of Market Drayton in Shropshire. Aged just 19 and 21 they became its tenant farmers and have run the farm themselves ever since.
