David Miller is a former officer in the British armed forces who served in England, The Falkland Islands, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands. He worked as a freelance author and as a journalist for the Jane’s Information Group. He also worked on the staff of the authoritative International Defense Review and was Editor of the two-volume Jane’s Major Warships, and has written more than sixty other works relating to weapons and warfare including The Illustrated Directory of Guns and The History of Browning Firearms for Colin Gower Enterprises.

He has written and edited many books on military technology and history, including: Civil War Weapons; The World’s Great Small Arms; HMS Endurance; The Illustrated Directory of Guns and many others. He also served for over 15 years as a military reservist in both infantry and intelligence roles.
