FIGUERES. Ciutat de les idees by Maria Anglada

Directing the Decades is an examination of the development of theatre in the UK since the revolution of the 1950s until the present day, viewed through the individual progress of a female director from a working-class background.

Anglada, Maria Angels: - Maria Angels Anglada (1930-1999) is one of the most important figures of the Catalan 20th century. Her success as an author was concretized in 1978 when she was awarded the Josep Pla prize for her first novel Les Closes. She subsequently became one of the most prestigious and widely-read of all Catalan authors with works such as: No em dic Laura, L'agent del Rei and El violi d'Auschwitz. Martha Tennent is known for her skillful translations of Catalan works into the English language. One of her most recent translations is Merce Rodoreda's novel, Death in Spring.
