H.Leighton Steward graduated from Southern Methodist University with a master's degree in physics and went on to become the CEO of a Fortune 500 energy company. He serves on the board of trustees of Tulane University and the Institute for the Study of Earth and Man (anthropology, geology, and statistics). SUGAR BUSTERS! was inspired by his own success with this method of eating and a family history of diabetes. Bethea, M.D., is a Tulane University School of Medicine and Davidson College graduate. He currently works in New Orleans as a thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgeon.

Dr. Bethea is an author of numerous articles in the field of cardiovascular illness and a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is also a clinical professor of surgery at Tulane Medical Center and a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Samuel S. Andrews, M.D., is a medical school graduate of Louisiana State University. He practices endocrinology with the Audubon Internal Medicine Group and is a recognized expert in the management of obesity. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology, among other organizations.

He works at Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans as a clinical associate professor of medicine. Luis A. Balart, M.D., is a medical school graduate of Louisiana State University. Dr. Balart is the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Memorial Medical Center and the chief of gastroenterology at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is currently participating in clinical trials for the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and chronic liver diseases.

He has a long list of papers in these fields.
