The book is tailored specifically for the director taking on his or her first professional assignment, and focuses on what a director must know to control the set. His book, First Time Director, was a bestseller in the Los Angeles Times. He recently finished his sixth feature film, Be There Once, Be There Twice, a documentary on rock star Sammy Hagar's life and times. Bettman has also directed a number of music videos and primetime television series.
