Fish Go Woof by Miranda Maxwell-Hyslop

Mix and match animals and noises to create the most unlikely looking creatures in this hilarious split-page novelty book. This split-page book is quirky and fun and guaranteed to make you roar with laughter. With many different animal combinations, your child can learn to mix and match animals and noises. Do fish go woof, or baa or maybe blub? Do dogs go miaow, or hiss, or hee-haw? Do donkeys go snort, roar or squeak?
Finally, you can't beat a book that can be endlessly fiddled withMiranda Maxwell-Hyslop's splendid Fish Go Woof (Hodder ?10.99) was my 18-month-old son's Book of the Month from this selection. The spine is ring-bound and the stiff pages split into three, each section portraying a third of an animal with its name, sound and 'Go' in the middle, but all mixed up in the wrong order.

You may even have an early indication of whether your child is a nascent literalist or surrealist by noting whether they meticulously match up the right bits of each animal or enjoy creating the most bizarre creatures they can assemble. Though, presumably when you're 18 months, all animals are such a novelty that 'Ducks Go Moo' must seem as reasonable as any of the alternatives. - The Observer
Miranda has lived in France, Italy and London. She has always loved art, and sold her first illustration when she was 25 years old. It was of a restuarant called 'La Strega' and it is still hanging there! She loves travel and enjoys making people laugh. She chose to write and illustrate specifically for children because what a child learns and loves during childhood stays with them and affects them for the rest of their life.
