Flapjack and Waddle and the Polar Bear by Georgie Adams
Two little penguins called Flapjack and Waddle go sailing in the Arctic Ocean with their families, looking for the North Pole. When they can't find it they set off across the ice and meet up with a polar bear cub who is looking for his mother. It's a happy ending when Mrs Bear reappears and guides the little penguins on their way, by means of the stars. The bold, distinctive graphics, allied with a simple but attractive story, have enormous appeal, and Flapjack and Waddle are familiar to thousands of children already. The first book has been an enormous success, since it was selected for the National Curriculum Statutory Reading Test.
