Novelty early learning books with real educational value. These books teach young children about basic concepts while giving simple information about the natural world. They are based around animals and have been devised with the input of a range of top experts on language, numeracy and biology. The text satisfies basic educational principles such as consistent text placement and repetition of questions. Each left-hand page poses a question; the right-hand page has three possible answers and three flaps. The reader lifts the flaps to see if they chose the right answer and to discover a simple animal fact based on the opposite, number, shape or colour in question.
Sue Hendra studied Graphic Design at Epsom Art College and then at Brighton University. During her last year as a student, she was commissioned to illustrate her first children's book, The Sun Is a Bright Star, published in 1995. Her Walker titles are Oliver's Wood and Scary Party.
