Flora Britannica Book Of Wild Herbs by Richard Mabey

A herb book like no other-it takes a broad definition of herbs and includes 100 wild plants from England, Scotland and Wales. It is organised thematically and has sections on wild foods, fruits and kitchen medicines. As well as describing the plants, it gives an account of the role of wild herbs in social life, arts, custom and landscape. Like Flora Britannica, this selection is the result of five years of painstaking research and includes the personal anecdotes, observations and regional knowledge of people from all over Britain.

Richard Mabey is largely regarded as the country's foremost naturalist. He is the editor of The Oxford Book of Nature Writing and the author of Food for Free, a breakthrough book about foraging in the countryside. He has written for the Guardian, Granta, and other newspapers, as well as narrated and produced successful BBC television and radio shows. He currently resides in Norfolk, UK.
