For the Love of Steam by David Weston
From the powerful express train hurling its exhaust high into the clouds to the glamour of the showman's road locomotive as it powers a fairground, David Weston's expressive paintings capture his deep love of the steam engine. The paintings and sketches clearly portray the mechanics of the era, as the careful balance of painterly technique combined with an eye for detail, allows for the expression of light, colour and atmosphere.
David Weston was born in 1935, and has painted many subjects close to heart during his career as an artist, including motor cars, ships and of course trains. His work has been exhibited at the British Transport Museum and London's Barbican. He lives in Leicestershire.
