Chrissie Rucker OBE founded The White Company in 1994 after she couldn't find well-designed, beautiful-quality white bed linens that were also inexpensive, so she decided to invest her £6,000 savings to create them. The inaugural The White Company collection featured a small selection of basics for the home, including everything from high-quality bed linen, bedspreads, pillows, and duvets to luxury towels. The collection has expanded significantly, and now includes home furnishings, fragrance, furniture, clothes, nightwear, and children's clothing. Chrissie has championed The White Company's key ideals throughout: a passion for white, amazing design, and fantastic quality that is nevertheless accessible. 'We are fanatical about the details and believe that beautiful things should be cherished and used every day,' Chrissie says. When Chrissie first launched The White Company, she handled everything herself: answering the phone, packing boxes, running the warehouse, buying the product, allocating stock, designing the brochure, marketing, and even accounting and HR. What's the end result?

Chrissie's vision and enthusiasm for The White Company are still at the heart of the company today, and she is committed to its further growth in the UK and beyond. The White Company opened its first international flagship location in June 2017 at 155 Fifth Avenue in New York's Flatiron neighborhood, followed by a second store in November at the premium The Mall at Shorthills, New Jersey.
