Forwardness by Twyla Tharp
In Forwardness, award-winning dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp explores the variety of steps anyone can take to forestall the aging process, and more important, to convince one's own mind that it is truly only as old as it feels. Drawing on a variety of physical techniques, mental acuity exercises and spiritual tricks of the psyche, Forwardness will prove to be as innovative and novel as its creator.Twyla Tharp, one of America's most celebrated choreographers, began her career in 1965 and has since developed over 130 works for the Joffrey Ballet, the New York City Ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet, the Royal Ballet of London, the Royal Ballet of Denmark, and the American Ballet Theatre. She earned two Emmy Awards for Tharp's Baryshnikov on television and a Tony Award for Movin' Out on Broadway. She was admitted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1993 and made an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1997 after receiving a MacArthur Fellowship. She is the recipient of nineteen honorary degrees, the most recent of which came from Harvard University. She is based in New York City and works there.
