
Four in the Morning by Nick Mcdowell
Orphan Matthew Kerrigan is thrown on the mercy of his amnesiac grandmother and an older boy, David Felshaw. As they grow up together David uses his influence over Matthew to exact awkward favours. Under David's spell, Matthew becomes intrigued by David's sister, until David mysteriously disappears.
Nick McDowell has previously published short stories and poetry in various literary magazines, and a novel, The Wrong Girl (1995). He works in publishing and lives with his wife, the painter Sarah Raphael, and their two daughters in London.
