Fragile Eden by Robin Hanbury-Tenison

Robin and Louella Hanbury-Tenison embarked on a journey the length of New Zealand on horseback. This is the story of their trip through some of the largest farms in the world, across snowy passes of over 6000 feet and through the baking heat of valley floors. As a farmer, the author took a sympathetic interest in agriculture and soil erosion, yet as President of Survival International he was also keenly aware of the Maori land claims which are becoming a contentious issue in New Zealand politcs. Robin Hanbury-Tenison is also the author of "A Ride Along the Great Wall", "White Horses Over France", "A Question of Survival", "A Pattern of Peoples" and "Worlds Apart". He has explored parts of South America and Indonesia and has been a Vice-President and Gold Medalist of the Royal Geographical Society.
