Francis Ernest Jackson and His School by Jgp Delaney

Few artists have been remembered with such loyalty by his admirers, and yet so forgotten by art historians, as Ernest Jackson. A dwindling number of students, who admire him as a man and an artist as well as a teacher, still speak of him with reverence. Yet to the art-loving public he is known, except for a few warm references in the autobiographies of fellow artists such as A S Hartrick and C R W Nevinson. The qualities which so impressed his contemporaries were substantial ones and deserve wider recognition. It is time that his work and his key role in the art world of his day were better known.
