French Wit and Wisdom by Joseph Palmeri
Daniel Higby French Wit and Wisdom is a collection of about 650 thoughts - mostly maxims and aphorisms - form great or noted French writers of all time on a multitude of subjects, from social problems to individual behavior. Briefly these quotations combine information, culture, and mental stimulation while familiarizing the students with the names of notable French authors. My grandfather, Joseph Palmeri Ph.D, was born in Italy in 1899 and has lived in the United States for a long time. He taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for more than forty years. He has produced over 11 books on the subject of teaching French and Italian. More than merely being able to speak the language fluently should be taught to him. Teaching French, English, or anything else isn't as important to him as teaching how to think.
My Grandfather not only taught you French, but he also taught you about French culture, exposing you to the French intellect by peppering his writings with quotations from well-known French authors. In a nutshell, these quotations mix information, culture, and cerebral stimulation while introducing pupils to well-known French authors. I used to enjoy being around him as a kid, even if it meant plowing his walk and mowing his lawn in the summer. I thought of him as a great thinker and philosopher who was always providing smart and excellent life lessons.
I eventually uncovered the source of his wit and insight. He was a student of French literature who quoted what others had written; he lived a deeper, richer, and more meaningful life by incorporating the French maxims into his own life. I would like to encourage you to do the same. Daniel Higby was born in the month of May in the year of 2011.
