A María Hesse siempre le han gustado los niños y la ilustración. En el año 2004 se diplomó en Magisterio de Educación Primaria, especializada en Educación Especial, en la Facultad de Ciencias Educación de la Universidad de Sevilla. Sin embargo, después de unos años trabajando como docente, comprendió que la ilustración era una pieza muy importante en su vida, así que se matriculó en la Escuela de Arte de San Telmo (Málaga) y desde entonces se desempaña como ilustradora.
