Friluftsliv by Fridtjof Nansen

Friluftsliv utkom f rste gang i 1916.

Fridtjof Wedel-Jarlsberg Nansen was born in 1861 near Oslo and is considered to be the most famous polar explorer ever seen in Norway. He grew up as the son of a lawyer in his parents' rural home and went on to study Zoology at the University of Oslo. Following his promotion, he decided to focus his research on oceanography, and he traveled extensively across the North Atlantic for this purpose. Nansen's Durchquerung of Grönlands is one of his most well-known expeditions. This began in 1888 and lasted for about a year.

He experimented with new methods in practice and set out for Grönland with a small team and a new type of equipment, conquering the island from east to west. As a result, he was the first to cross the Inlandeis with Grönland and to enrich arctic travel with new technologies. Nansen, however, was not only a polar explorer and zoologist. He also served as the Curator of the Bergen Museum, where he assumed political roles and influenced Norway in a variety of ways.

This was especially true in relation to Norway's independence, which he strongly advocated for and for which his participation was crucial in the execution. In 1922, he was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to worldwide refugee relief following World War II. If one claims that Nansen led an extremely exciting and varied life up until his death in 1930, this is in no way flattering - it simply reflects the truth.
