In this extremely readable and engaging book, Lana Grant gives graphic details of her pregnancies to illustrate how the challenges are magnified for those with Asperger Syndrome. Even when medical staff knew her diagnosis, this rarely altered their practice. Feeling extremely anxious about much of what was said and done was constant. However, giving birth and caring for her children have been the happiest and most significant parts of her life to date. Lana Grant is currently researching a BPhil on gender differences in autism at Birmingham University. She has six children and was diagnosed with autism at the age of 38, after the birth of her fifth child. The diagnosis transformed her experience of her sixth pregnancy. Lana is employed by the Birmingham City Council Local Authority Communication Autism Team and is an active advocate for autism, regularly giving talks and writing articles.
