Best known as captain of the Dreadnought in his later years, Samuel Samuels was often in danger both ashore and afloat, and his many adventures make excellent stories.
Samuels, Samuel: - Captain Samuel Samuels was raised in Pennsylvania, and left home as a young boy after his father remarried. He was forced to retire from his seagoing career after serious injury, only to forge a second successful career as the skipper of several large racing yachts in the 1870s and 1880s.
