From the Preachers Heart by R M Mccheyne

Robert Murray McCheyne's sermons were spiritual and forceful - in many ways models for preachers today. They were also attended with wonderful power and fruitfulness when they were first preached. McCheyne was a man who stood out amongst his contemporaries - regarded as one whose grace and gentleness were obvious to all who met him. He preached with urgency - 'as a dying man to dying men' - sermons as relevant today as when published over 150 years ago.

..highly recommended to all, particularly as a devotional aid, and also to preachers as an abiding monument and yardstick of God-glorifying proclamation.

-- Tim Trumper, Evangelism Today (President of From His Fullness Ministries and Senior Pastor of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
Robert Murray McCheyne (1813 – 1843) has had a tremendous impact not only on the people of his generation but through his writings ever since. He died in his thirtieth year and in the seventh year of ministry while he was the pastor of St Peter’s Free Church. His epitaph describes him as a man who ‘was honoured by his Lord to draw many wanderers out of darkness into the path of life’.
