Frontlines - Backyards by Bill Schwarz
This collection of essays reflects the turbulence of contemporary ethnicities. As well as new work from Stuart Hall, Phil Cohen and Bill Schwarz, it includes a wide range of lesser-known voices, from outside the academy as well as within. In addition, it features fiction, and photography from Sunil Gupta and David A. Bailey. The contributors aim to reflect the changing identifications people make when faced with the constant shiftings of the contemporary world, which can place one group's frontline into another's backyard. They argue the need for a bringing together of disparate voices, working in different idioms. "New Formations" is a journal of cultural debate, history and theory. It brings new and challenging perspectives to bear on the categories that frame cultural analysis and political action. The journal has covered issues ranging from the seduction of perversity to questions of nationalism and post-colonialism. Contributors open up new zones of enquiry whilst drawing new charts of understanding to explain new formations in contemporary life. "New Formations" brings together in one volume both established and new writers from many walks of critical life. Past contributors have included: Parveen Adams, Nomi Bhabha, Slavoj Zizek, Susan Buck-Morss, Gillian Rose, Jacqueline Rose, Zygmunt Bauman and Christopher Norris.| SKU | Unavailable |
