Functional Anatomy for Occupational Therapy by Nathan Short

Finally… an OT approach to functional anatomy. Functional Anatomy for Occupational Therapy provides students with a solid foundation for understanding the science of purposeful movement. Lead author Nathan Short, a practicing OT, presents functional anatomy across the human life span through an occupation-based lens, in the context of clinical practice.
Nathan (Nate) Short, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, is an associate professor of occupational therapy at Huntington University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He received his OTD from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009 and his PhD from Kingston University in London, England, in 2020. He began his career serving with the Indian Health Service (IHS) in Gallup, New Mexico, and has worked across the spectrum of practice including in acute care, rehabilitation, early intervention, and outpatient settings. He remains clinically active, primarily in occupation-based hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Additionally, he leads service-learning and research initiatives related to seating and mobility in developing countries. His research interests include technology, international service learning (ISL) as pedagogy, and hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, and he has published numerous research articles related to these topics. He enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter and is also a mediocre tennis player, scuba diver, and cyclist.
