Allen Steele began his career as a journalist covering the space program before moving on to write speculative fiction. Allen's first novel, Orbital Decay, was named Best First Novel of the Year by Locus, and he was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award twice. The Campbell Award is given to a person who has made He also began writing for science fiction periodicals and selling his work to them. He has won three Hugo awards for short fiction (1996, 1998, and 2010) and is a frequent Nebula nominee. He and his DJ wife Linda now live in Whately, Massachusetts.
