A Gasp of Love by Seamus Mulholland Ofm

While this volume on Duns Scotus explores the central tenets of his thought such as, Univocity of Being, Haecceitas, the Proof for the Existence of God, the Absolute Primacy of Christ (colloquially referred to as the 'Motive for the Incarnation'), it also emphasises the central importance of his Franciscanism. In this regard, it shows that Scotus was not a theologian who 'happened' to be a Franciscan, but rather that he was first and foremost a Franciscan, and it is this Franciscanism which underpinned all his work and writings.
Seamus Mulholland is a Friar of the former Province of the Immaculate Conception in Great Britain. After roles in parish ministry and university chaplaincy he worked in Formation and taught Franciscan Studies at the Franciscan International Study Centre in Canterbury, where he specialised in Scotus studies. He is the author of works on Franciscan spirituality and theology.
