The story of the three years the poet William Blake spent in Felpham, of the impact of his revolutionary ideas on a pair of young lovers, of his quarrel with a trooper and his subsequent arrest and trial for sedetion. It is also a story about people, places and art that is centred around the Fox Inn in Felpham.
Beryl Kingston was evacuated to Felpham at the start of WWII, igniting an interest in one time resident poet William Blake. Kingston was a school teacher until 1985, becoming a full-time writer when her debut novel became a bestseller. The Gates of Paradise is her twentieth novel. Kingston lives in west Sussex, and has three children and five grandchildren.
