Gateway to Resurrection by Sister Maria Boulding Osb
Maria Boulding was Benedictine Monk of the Enclosed Stanbrook Abbey Community in Yorkshire. She was a considerable scholar, particularly of liturgy and of St Augustine. In the last months of your life, she wrote the remarkable book recounting her experience of the risen Christ, as she endured painful terminal illness. Drawing heavily on St Benedict and St Augustine, she writes with profound understanding of how in later years she returned to fundamental Christian beliefs and experienced them to be true.
[Maria Boulding's] most recent and final book has been beautifully produced by the Roman Catholic printing house Burns and Oats..and is a worthy successor to her many other titles...this testimony has its own unique integrity, delivered with the authority of the monastic tradition that she had made her own. * Church Times *
Sister Maria writes intelligently, passionately and devotionally...This is not a book to be rushed. Each page has personally validated nuggets, which excite the heart, but then have to be slowly savoured, absorbed, lived. * Fairacres Chronicle *
This is a book full of realism and hope, scholarly but easy to read, and worth reading slowly. * The Way *
This is the last book written by a greatly appreciated author... In chapter 2 this contemplative writes beautifully and truly about the life of prayer... This book distils the significance of [St Augustine of Hippo's] life and reflects on his spiritual journey more insightfully than I have seen anywhere else. * Quarterly Review of the Community of the Resurrection Number 434 *
... a remarkable book... an inspiring insight into the Benedictine life... there is a great deal of practical advice about living the spiritual life, which can hardly fail to enrich the lives of its readers. * Franiciscan *
