Generalized Linear Models and Extensions, Third Edition by James W Hardin

This book presents a thorough examination of generalized linear model (GLM) estimation methods as well as the derivation of all major GLM families. Examined families include Gaussian, gamma, inverse Gaussian, binomial, Poisson, geometric, and negative binomial. The text also contains various models that have been developed on the basis of GLM theory, including GAM, ordered binomial models, multinomial logit and probit models, GEE and other quasi-likelihood models, fixed and random effects models, and random intercept and random parameter models. Using Stata, the book offers numerous examples to assist you in applying the models to your own data situations.

Joseph M. Hilbe is a Solar System Ambassador at the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, an adjunct statistics professor at Arizona State University, and an emeritus professor at the University of Hawaii. At Statistics.com, he also teaches five web-based statistical modeling courses. Professor Hilbe is the president of the International Astrostatistics Association, an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association, an elected member of the International Statistical Institute, and a full member of the American Astronomical Society. He is a leading statistician in discrete and longitudinal data modeling. Professor Hilbe was a key player in the then-new domain of health outcomes research during the late 1980s and 1990s, acting as director of research for a national chain of hospitals and then CEO of a national health economics organization. He has produced 16 books relating to statistical modeling, including the best-selling Logistic Regression Models and Modeling Count Data. He also served on the executive committee of the American Statistical Association's Health Policy Statistics Section.
