Gentlemen by Klas Ostergren

An internationally bestselling classic, now available in Britain
An exuberant, complicated thriller and literary tour de force..the unravelling of the mystery is extremely compelling and highly imaginative. -- Kate Saunders * * The Times * *
An amusing, vivid depiction of a romantic era in post-war Sweden. * * The Herald * *
A modern Swedish classic * * Financial Times * *
Stylishly translated . . . this exuberant alloy of family saga, espionage romp and historical panorama delivers border-hopping intrigue as well as a nostalgia fest for veterans of the Sixties and Seventies . . . Steeped in the pop and counter-cultures of its time, Ostegren's entertaining tour of Cold War Europe smacks almost as much of Austin Powers as John Le Carre. -- Boyd Tonkin * * Independent * *
Klas Östergren was born in Stockholm in 1955 and is the author of several novels including the landmark Gentlemen (1981) and its sequel, Gangsters (2005). A leading star of Swedish literature for nearly three decades, he has won the Piratenpriset and the Doblougska prize from the Swedish Academy. He now lives with his wife and three children in the seafront town of Kivik in southern Sweden.
