Anthony McElligott is a history professor and the Director of the Centre for Historical Research at the University of Limerick. Cultural and Social History: The Journal of the Social History Society is one of his first co-editorships. Contested City: Municipal Politics and the Development of Nazism in Altona 1917-1937 (1998), The German Urban Experience 1900-1945, Modernism and Crisis (2001), and 'Working Towards The Führer': Essays in Memory of Sir Ian Kershaw (2003) are among his many publications on the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich. He is currently working on Rethinking The Weimar Republic: Authority and Authoritarianism 1916-1936, a major new study of the Weimar Republic.
