Getting Started in Trading by Sunny J Harris
Written specifically for the novice, Getting Started in Trading explains the basics of trading, in any time frame. While most beginner books answer such technical questions as "What is a put" and "What is a call", this book describes both the "what" of trading and the how: how do I place a trade, how do I select a broker, and what do I tell them when I open my account? It provides detailed information on selecting a computer, software packages, and data sources.
SUNNY J. HARRIS has been trading the S&P 500, bonds, and stocks since 1981 for her own account. She retired at the age of thirty when she sold her share in ISSCO, a computer graphics software company (developers of Harvard Graphics). Harris has been the publisher of The Trader's Catalog and Resource Guide (the yellow pages for the trading industry) since 1993. She is a member of the Market Technicians Association, served on a committee of the Managed Futures Association, teaches Trading 101 seminars regularly, and appears frequently on Channel 22 in Los Angeles.
