Philippa Pearce was a beloved children’s writer. Her titles include Here Comes TodMinnow on the SayThe Battle of Bubble and Squeak (Winner of the Whitbread Children’s Book Award) and the classic Tom’s Midnight Garden, for which she was awarded the Carnegie Medal. Philippa passed away in 2006.

When Cate James was little she copied pictures from books all the time and she still has a picture of a crocodile that she drew when she was two. Cate says, “I like to draw with an old ink pen. I like to make a mess and have inky hands!” Cate lives in Australia.
